WELLNESS IN THE DIGITAL AGE AT THE 4th GMM

For its 4th General Membership Meeting (GMM) held at St. Luke’s Medical Center, the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) tackled a rarely discussed topic in marketing — “Navigating Wellness in the Digital Age.”

After the short welcome address delivered by Dr. Gene Gerald SJ Tiongco, Associate Director of the Physician Relations Group at St. Luke’s Medical Center, President Sy Bryan Lato, CPM – Asia delivered his video message. Currently in transit to Bangladesh for the Asian Marketing Federation, he noted that “while “technology offers convenience, it also presents challenges … which can harm our mental and physical health.” He concluded by saying, “As marketers we have the power to shape consumer behavior. Let us champion wellness.”

EMBRYONIC STAGE

The first speaker was Jan Vincent Cabasag, Program Director at St. Luke’s Medical Center, who discussed the brand framework, the influence of social media, and the best practices in the healthcare setting.

He also shared the different tests, such as new-generation sequencing and nutrigenomics, which the hospital can employ to detect diseases. In the end, he noted that while metaverse is still in its embryonic stage, it “can influence healthcare marketing” and that “digitalization has impactful effects towards health care decision-making of patients.

PINOYS ON MENTAL HEALTH

The second speaker came in the person of Stephanie Naval, Chief Executive Officer of Empath who started by saying that the majority of employees attribute their mental health challenges to their workplace.

The advocacy-led company offers mental health talks, wellness classes, telemental health consultations and psychosocial support training. This takes into consideration how Filipinos view mental health, the stigma and the challenges of accessibility to mental services.

The Brand Spotlight segment was given to Carolyn Chuaying, Managing Director of Intech Group Innovations Corp., who shared her company’s products with the members.  Of course, there were the customary hybrid portions on networking and new members’ induction.

See you all in the next GMM for more insightful knowledge!
