PMA’s 3rd General Membership Meeting Highlights: Sustainability Marketing and Collaboration

The Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) recently held its 3rd General Membership Meeting on May 29, 2024, at the Sequoia Hotel, Manila Bay in Paranaque City, showcasing its commitment to sustainability marketing and collaboration with key industry partners. The meeting highlighted PMA’s strategic partnerships with other institutions aimed at further equipping its members and the rest of the community to drive better business performance and provide synergistic efforts for growth.

President Kathy opened the event with a report on the milestones and project initiatives achieved by the PMA for the past 100 days under her leadership.

PMA on the #LoveThePhilippines campaign

PMA Director of PR and Communications, Hiyasmin Neri-Soyao, showcased the videos of the recent tour activities of the PMA that appreciates the heritage and culture of Manila and Pampanga as part of the overall thrust of the PMA to advocate love for the country through sustainability marketing.

Speakers on Sustainability Marketing

Highlights of the event included the stories of Junk Not’s Willie Garcia and Reymond “Boss RDR” Delos Reyes, two prominent advocates of sustainability marketing.

The founder and CEO of Junk Not, Wilhelmina “Willie” S. Garcia, addressed the critical issue of plastic pollution, noting that the Philippines is the third largest contributor globally. Junk Not collaborates with various organizations to recycle, reuse, and repurpose waste materials, turning them into valuable products such as corporate giveaways, trophies, among others.

Reymond “Boss RDR” Delos Reyes, Founder and CEO of RDR Business Solutions, shared strategies on sustainability marketing through social media. He emphasized the importance of creating attention-grabbing content, known as “scroll stoppers,” and using attraction marketing techniques. His approach focuses on making content relevant, debatable, and relatable, ensuring it resonates with the audience and addresses current trends.

BNI Partnership

The meeting also featured the partnership between PMA and BNI, and the latter’s upcoming events such as the Alliance Business Matching by BNI on June 13, 2024 and BNI Connection x Revolution on July 5-6, 2024 at the PICC– both pose to facilitate valuable business connections. Embracing the “GIVERS GAIN” philosophy by BNI, these events are touted to promote mutual business growth.

PMA Fellowship: Movie Nights

PMA also announced its Movie Nights series slated on July 27, September 21, and November 8, 2024. Sponsorship packages offering excellent visibility and engagement opportunities for businesses were presented, with options ranging from goodie bag sponsorships to media partner sponsorships. Packages include ₱5,000 with 4 movie tickets, ₱10,000 with 8 movie tickets, ₱20,000 with 16 movie tickets, and ₱30,000 with 24 movie tickets, which are ideal for corporate rewards system.

NXT GEN 2024 National Marketing Conference

The NXT GEN initiative focuses on sustainability marketing with the next generation in mind. Targeting Gen Z and Gen Alpha, this initiative aims to zero in on sustainable growth by leveraging next-generation marketing tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Specialized workshops are designed to provide practical insights into brand management and holistic marketing.

AI Masterclasses and Workshops

Former President Bryan Lato introduced a series of AI masterclasses featuring industry experts. Topics include June 8: Dominic Ligot on “Transformative Marketing using AI”; June 15: Jerry Ilao on “Implementing AI in Digital Marketing”; June 22: Rey Lugtu on “Advanced Customer Experience Using AI”; and June 29: Allan Tan on “Ethical AI and Future Trends”. Additionally, Mr. S.K. Pek from the Marketing Institute of Singapore will conduct an AI toolkit workshop for decision making on June 19, 2024.

Go Green Taiwan Partnership

The highest point of the GMM centered on the partnership with the Taiwan International Trade Administration’s “Go Green with Taiwan” initiative as presented by its Trade Attache, Alex Lai. Launched earlier this year, the program seeks to increase awareness on and drive action towards sustainability. With the PMA given a unique opportunity to join until June 30, 2024, our community of marketers can participate in this fund grant contest by creating strategic proposals on the achievement of environmental or economic sustainability, whether it’s on clean water & energy, responsible consumption or climate action, etc. As ‘Go Green with Taiwan’ encourages global participation with submissions from different sectors and industries, it looks at tapping at least 10 qualified entries from the Philippines. Selected entries shall receive support through a collaboration with various Taiwanese enterprises with the overall winner to bring home the much-coveted prize of USD 20,000.

Induction of New Members

Led by President Kathy, the induction of new members brought in a new batch of marketers committed to community building and thought leadership in the marketing industry.
