Fourteen years later, GIGA Enterprises has evolved from its backyard beginnings into a professionally managed corporation, the GIGA Natural Products Specialist Corporation, with a distribution network of over 12 mall-based outlets. GIGA is now marketing a full range of natural products with over 80 different variants of soaps, oils, balms, sprays and other personal care items, using formulae developed by an in-house chemist, and approved by the Food and Drug Administration. From gross revenues of P527,000 during its initial year of operation, the company generated P21 million of sales in 2013, and is poised to grow by an average annual rate of 20% going forward. Its revenues grew 10 times since 2005. Orders from foreign customers, while still a small portion of its revenues, have poured in from export markets, and the company has supplied to buyers in Cambodia, Singapore, Hongkong, Kuwait, Dubai and the United States.
GIGA's business infrastructure is a model of simplicity and efficiency. Distributing its products through its own or its franchised retail shops entrenched in shopping malls, it has the advantage of directly interacting with end-users who provide valuable feedback that enables it to adapt to market needs. For example, the outlet based in Tiendesitas where pet shops abounded allowed GIGA to discover a demand for non-synthetic grooming products for pet dogs and cats, and today, this all-natural pet line is one of its strongest product lines. It is also through the suggestion of a customer that GIGA developed its top-selling product, the Massage Rub Cream. Customers also routinely interact with sales personnel to give feedback on their personal experiences, thus allowing the company to tweak its ingredients or use alternative extracts to ensure product quality and efficacy. Indigenous virgin coconut oil is a major input in most of its products, a raw material that has gained acceptance in the international marketplace.
Giga's introduction of high quality, locally produced products have made them affordable thus contributing greatly to the growth of this sector.
